The Husband Store

I was so excited for Micah to get back from his trip to Michigan, he got me some nice sweaters from the Auto-Owners Insurance Company Logo Store, and I was soo excited to have someone talk to at bedtime! We got onto the subject of how sometimes women just want more and more, and men are pretty simple creatures. This post if proving that Micah had it right, men are simple ;)

The Husband Store

A brand new store has just opened in New York City that sells Husbands.

When women go to choose a husband, they have to follow the instructions
at the entrance:

"You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are 6 floors and the value of the products increase as you ascend the flights. You may choose any item from a particular floor or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you CANNOT go back down except to exit the building!"

So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband.

The 1st floor sign reads: Floor 1 - These men have jobs.

The 2nd floor sign reads: Floor 2 - These men Have Jobs and Love Kids.

The 3rd floor sign reads: Floor 3 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids and are extremely good looking.

"Wow," she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.

She goes to the 4th floor and The sign reads: Floor 4 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and Help with Housework.

"Oh, mercy me!" she exclaims, "I can hardly stand it!" Still, she goes to the 5th floor and The sign reads: Floor 5 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, help with Housework and Have A Strong Romantic Streak.

She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the 6th floor and the sign reads:

Floor 6 - You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on
this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible
to please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.

To avoid gender bias charges, the store's owner opens a New Wives store
just across the street.

The 1st floor has wives who love sex.

The 2nd floor has wives who love sex and have money.

The 3rd through 6th floors have never been visited.

Hmmm...I think us as wives need to be grateful for what we have! Good thing Micah is "Floor 5" to me!

Routine

You can say it. We're boring people right now! It's that routine type stuff that hasn't changed for the past couple of weeks. Nothing exciting, work, eat, sleep, repeat.

BUT some exciting news, I've pulled out my cheap-o flip flops from Old Navy and have been wearing them when I'm not in my work shoes. I have Reef leather sandals that cost an "arm and a leg" but they just don't do it for me. Old Navy 2 for $5 deal is where it's at. Spring is getting closer!!

And I know that you're dying to find out what Tika and Stumpy have been up to {they haven't been on the blog forever} they are current residents at the Platt Chateau garage. But they are just fun to watch because all the snow has melted and Tika loves rolling around in the warm grass. Stumpy...well he's just Stumpy, cute.

Micah is leaving me...for a week. He'll be traveling to Lansing, Michigan this Sunday to go for some training! He's really excited {and sad, to be leaving me...ok not really that sad} he'll get back on Friday night and i'll get to hear about all the exciting things he did.

What will I be doing while he's gone? Well I'm not really sure...I might find a craft to do while he's gone. And snuggle the pillow that he sleeps with at night. But I think I'm getting a little travel bug and need to go somewhere for a quick retreat!

teamwork

These past couple of days has been total teamwork between these three! What great siblings they are to each other, and how they don't let their egos ever interfere :)

There grandparents aren't doing so well, they're 90 and 91, and living down in Cedar City has been rough because they are far away. Grandpa has had some recent surgeries (knee in the Spring, and hip a month ago) and now Grandma is starting to feel her hip is going :( They've lived in the same house that Grandpa built when they were newlyweds 60 years ago, so it was hard for them to imagine leaving their home.

Gaye and David were gone on vacation when we got a call that they needed help asap on friday. We got someone to get down there and collect some belongings and bring them up to an amazing, loving home called "Le Platt Chateau" aka: Gaye and Davids home where we're staying :)

So between Camie {a physical therapist} Brittany {an amazing cook and baker} and Micah {a strong guy to help lift and transport up and down the stairs} we got through 2 days of helping Grandma and Grandpa feel comfortable in their "new home" for right now! But we're glad that Gaye and David made it back safely and can step in with their expertise and love.

I know that each one of them is going through a hard time watching a loved one go through pain, my Grandpa passed away in 2006 and it was bittersweet, bitter because he was younger for a Grandpa to pass away, but sweet because he was free from the pain of his second round with cancer :) So as a spouse and in-law to those close to him I can just give my love and support from the side and let them work through it as a team and give a quick hug and reassuring smile.

It's a full house with Sr. Platts, Jr. Platts and now Grandpa and Grandma! But I think that being around family is the best medicine sometimes, the comfort of knowing someone that loves you so near is a relief!

attention all mama's!

Funny story yesterday evening. I understand mom's can get so preoccupied and busy out shopping. Especially with 3 children, ages 6, 3, and a 7 month old (guessing on the ages), not to mention being on a cell phone.

So I pulled up to Joann's fabric store {I have a cute project I've been working on, but can't show it just yet} and as I was parking I looked up and saw this mom with her 3 children, with a baby carrier in the shopping cart. She was putting the two older kiddos into their seats, and while her back was turned the cart started rolling away {with the 7 month old in it} and hit a SUV 3 parking spots down.

"Oh! Poor baby, hopefully that didn't hurt too hard." I thought to myself. So I got out and the mom was still talking on the phone, and just kept on walking to the driver door.... SHE HAD FORGOT HER CHILD IN THE CART! I ran over {in high heels, more like shuffling} grabbed the cart and was trying to get the ladies attention. She thought I was just trying to get by her, so she was waving me on {she's STILL on her cell phone} Then my worst thoughts came to happen, she started to drive off slowly, I started to shuffle beside her van telling her to stop. I had to pick up the child carrier and show her that her child wasn't with her.

She stops and slams her cell phone shut, gets out of the car, SHOCKED, that she had forgotten her baby girl, and starts apologizing, telling me she wasn't the worst mom in the world.

I thought that it was funny. horrifying. shocking. and in the end it was hilarious {because I had caught the mom in time, and wasn't left standing in a parking lot memorizing a license plate number and calling the police}

But PLEASE don't forget your child in shopping cart in a Joann's parking lot. It's just too much for us good citizens to handle.

as of lately

I had a root canal about a month ago. It wasn't a total success. This picture above shows the process of my tooth

{top left} two cysts have formed in the bottom, the two white spots
{top middle} after he went and picked some out
{bottom} after 2 hours in the dentists office, I'm good to go.

I feel like I'm a pharmacy though. I have multiple bottles beside my bed, a narcotic painkiller, tylenol, tylenol pm, penicillin, tums and pepto bismol to help with the tummy.

I have headaches constantly. I feel so so drowsy all the time. I just want to curl up and sleep it all away!!

Good thing Micah can put up with me and my whining :)

a good read

After finally hearing about how this series is much better than Twilight, I got curious. So I've read both this and the second book "Catching Fire".

I don't know if it's "much better" than Twilight. I like both Twilight, and The Hunger Games, but the worst part is waiting until the end of August for the third, and final, book to come out! I really shouldn't have started until the beginning of August.

But it's a good read, entertaining, and a lot more thinking than Twilight.
