Silly Wishes.

When I was in Highschool I would tell myself that I would love to be married to someone who wore a button-down shirt and tie to work. Very professional looking. How naive was I?

Well I got my dream - my hubby works in a tie and shirt Monday-Friday. Then add in another tie and shirt for Sunday. Oh wait, he just got called to be the Young Men's Secretary - so occasionally another tie and shirt for meetings, and this week is the Court of Honor.

So let's see if my maths correct...that equals 6 shirts every week to be washed, laundered, and ironed (pants too) and maybe 7 shirts on some weeks. Now some may be asking "Well why can't you just drop them off at the dry cleaners?"- that would be great...if it was in our budget! That would be heavenly.

So I wish I could go back in time and bop me on the head for EVER wishing for a husband who works in a tie and shirt for their job. Because the reality it, who's going to be ironing and washing those professional looking attire? Oh yes - THE WIFE!!

Oh well...I have to get back to ironing my pile of death now.

Kairie Jensen-Page

Has it been a year already since this little doodle-bopper was born?! It's gone by so fast and I couldn't of asked for a happier niece!

We have learned that Kairie is not one for crawling on all fours, she does this "Quasimodo" crawl that looks so silly. But it gets her from point A to point B.

Her favorite person is her Grandpa Kenny.

She loves clapping her hands together, and then making people clap their own hands.

She's always soooo happy. I'm not kidding, not once when we took her out and about for some pics did she fuss or cry. About 3/4 of the pics were just her giggling, and playing.

She loves to dance to music. She even danced when we sang her "Happy Birthday".

She has us all wrapped around her little finger, and none of us mind one bit!

Isla's Room

We finally finished! It's a small room measuring 6x11 feet, but we love how it turned out. Micah was an amazing daddy when he painted the crib, we thought about buying spray paint cans but we used a power paint sprayer instead (saving our fingers, time, and lots and lots of spray paint cans everywhere) We used KILZ primer, low VOC yellow paint, and a water-based sealer on top.

We'll be putting two 11x14 pictures on the back wall when we get her newborn pics taken.




We went to one of our favorite places, Ikea, to get the dresser and armoire. The hardest part was trying to figure out how everything would fit without making it look TOO cramped and cluttered (but that's hard when you're working with 6x11 feet)




But until she moves into her room we have her cradle all set up in our room. Complete with her "womb sounds" bear. Which Micah really doesn't like, he says it sounds like aliens are in our bedroom ready to abduct him.

I'm glad we started on this early on in the pregnancy. My lower back kills whenever I do anything now. Including folding laundry and organizing!

We've made it to 33 weeks so far and still doing great :)

Brit is always so thoughtful in anything she does. We're so lucky to have her in our lives and she's just so talented! She just finished her gift to Baby Isla-- her own lullaby. And yes, our eyes glazed over with tears last night at dinner when she gave it to us.

For My Niece

It's that time again, time for another cousin to be welcomed into my family. This time, the parents are my "little" brother Micah and his wife Tawni. Their baby girl, Isla Karla Platt, is due to arrive this October, and in keeping with tradition, I have written a lullaby for her. Just finished it yesterday. Some day I'll figure out how to post the mp3, but for now I'll just have to share the lyrics.

Dear Isla
I hope you like this lullaby I wrote for you. As your Auntie, I am filled with love for you and your whole family. This song was written with that love in mind, and it has some special meaning in it for you and your parents.

Your special chord is an e79 chord (spelled egbdf# on the piano). This chord is jazzy and not exactly like the other chords in the song. It adds interest and beauty by being different and complex, a lot like the way your dad, Micah, adds interest and depth in our family. This chord is not used in any of the other cousins’ lullabies; it is your special harmony.

This lullaby has three verses to honor your place as the third person in your family, and it also uses a D7 chord, to honor your place as the seventh grandchild to Gramma and Papa.

The words were written mostly for you, but also for your mom Tawni. They convey the depth of love and uncertainty that many new moms feel. All we know is that we love our little children and want to do the best for them, even if we’re not sure about how to do it.

Missing Him

You can call me a lil' girl. But I miss my hubby! He's only been gone for a day now, but it seems like forever. He went to Priest camp to Southern Utah to hike the subway (it's near the narrows) until late Saturday night.

I miss him doing silly stupid things that keep us up until midnight or later, even though we get up to work at 6:30 or 7 am the next day.

My lower back and feet miss his massages!

My phone at work misses his calls during the day. Even if it's not to talk to me.

Baby Isla misses his pokes and voice through my belly...ok maybe not, he likes to antagonize her already by rudely yelling at her, and poking her awake.

My tummy misses his cooking (yes he's the better cook in our relationship)

I know that it may seem silly missing him only after a day, and some people have to go weeks, or months without seeing their spouse. But I do miss him.

So now what to do at nights when I get home from work?! Hmmm organize, laundry, and ironing sounds good to me.
